MAC Programs & Camps
Summer’s here and things are busy at the MAC. We are providing the opportunities to participate in quality, affordable, programming options for both youth and adults in our community. From swim lessons to golf camp, water fitness, and The First Tee, we’ve served more than 500 kids and adults already this summer and we’re not finished yet.
We’ve also run numerous MAC day camps including: Horseback Riding, Bowling, Swim, and Sports Camps.
We invite you to keep up with us on on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr where we share pictures of the fun participants are having at the MAC.
For more information about these programs and all other activities and updates check out the pages above.
First Tee Program
One program we’re especially proud of is The First Tee. When it launched in the late 90’s, it was focused in urban communities. We’re proud to say that the Meade Activity Center is home to one of the first rural affiliate programs in the nation and the first outside of Lexington and Louisville in the state of Kentucky.
. If you are interested in participating, download the summer registration form and return it to the MAC office. If you have any questions about The First Tee or any other programs please give us a call at 270-422-2227

In addition, the MAC offers a twilight rate after 4 pm at River Trace Golf Course. Take advantage and play a round of golf with cart for just $15 any day of the week!
MAC Advocate, Sandy Howard Makes it Happen
With only a small paid staff, the MAC relies heavily on advocates that volunteer their time and energy for it to be successful.
It is their continued drive and support that brings new and unique ideas and approaches to this project.
Periodically, we’ll share a profile on one of our advocates that has gone above and beyond to make the MAC successful.
It is our pleasure to spotlight Sandy Howard as the first, in a long list of individuals that have offered personal knowledge, ingenuity, and leadership skills to make the MAC better. In the latter stages of winter the MAC was very fortunate to have Sandy step up and take on the daunting task of being our Gala Auction Coordinator. It is without a doubt a role that requires a great deal of time and effort to be successful. She embraced this position and went above and beyond the call of duty and was, and is, an invaluable asset to the MAC.
This year the live and silent auctions far exceeded our expectations. Sandy was able to acquire a very diverse, yet appealing number of items that were well received by our Gala attendees. Items included Eagles memorabilia, signed sporting good items, vacation packages, luxury box seats, various artwork, and many other items of interest. This came as no surprise to most who know and work with Sandy.
Sandy is the type of person who always puts others interest in front of her own. She cares deeply about our local community and has always found a way to lend a helping hand. She has done tireless work at Brandenburg United Methodist Church, and has also been an advocate and volunteer for the local chapter of Relay for Life. A mother of two and grandmother of two, she is a wonderful person and valued friend of the Meade Activity Center. We thank her for her contributions to the MAC and the Meade County community.
Please join us in congratulating Sandy on a job well done!
Sandy and her husband, Doug Howard, own and operate the River Ridge Marathon in Brandenburg. They have two children, Barrett and Brittney. They are the proud grandparents of Emma & Abby Howard.
MAC Matters Gala…A Smash Success
We were excited to host yet another successful MAC Matters Gala this past April. We would like to send our gratitude to our headliner Don Henley, as well as Todd and Kari Wagner for their continued advocacy on behalf of the MAC. Our fundraising committee was able to give attendees a unique experience and create an environment of community and purpose. Because of your continued support we were able to raise $80,000 to help with funding financial assistance opportunities as well as ongoing improvements and upgrades to the MAC.
We want to thank everyone who helped make the Gala a success, specifically Platinum Sponsors Island Estates, Todd Wagner Foundation, Powers Paper Company, Louisville Gas & Electric, The Lusk Group and First Federal Savings Bank–as well as all our sponsors that made such generous donations.
Further, we appreciate the individuals and companies that participated in the silent and live auction portion of the event that help fund programs that provide new opportunities for the residents in our area.
Financial Assistance Available for Those Who Qualify
The MAC recognizes that ours is an inclusive community, and that some residents would be helped with financial assistance in order to participate. As a result, the MAC’s Financial Assistance program was developed and designed in an effort to assist eligible individuals and families experiencing financial constraints that limit their access to our programs, by providing them the option to participate at a reduced rate.
